Robert Mist and Elizabeth Hapgood

Robert Mist and Elizabeth were one of several Hapgood families living in Lymington in the middle of the nineteenth century.

Robert died in 1858 and Elizabeth followed in 1866. They are both buried in the churchyard at Lymington Parish Church.

Occupation

Robert's will describes him as a carrier so we may assume that he was involved in the family carrier business - and perhaps continued that after his mother's death in 1851. However, there is, as yet, no evidence of the business being operated in Robert's name. But a further examination of trade directories from the mid 1850s might be useful in this respect.

Will

Robert's will was proved at Winchester by the sole executrix - namely his widow, Elizabeth. Robert was described as a carrier.
